TMH Forklift Operator
Training Course Outline
Our program is divided into two segments
and provides participants a general understanding
of the safe and efficient operation of forklifts,
including sit-down and stand-up lifts, electric
pallet jacks and rough terrain forklifts in every type
of application. Participants will be able to
identify specific health and safety hazards
associated with operating forklifts.
Part One:
Includes an in-class course with formal lecture
and instruction, along with a written exam.
Part Two:
Consists
of a hands-on evaluation that measures the
individual’s ability to operate a specific
forklift in a safe manner.
Course Content:
• OSHA 1910.178 Powered Industrial Truck
regulations
• CAL-OSHA and employer regulations for safe
operations
• Pre-shift operator inspections
• Pedestrian safety
• Operating safely on ramps
• How to determine the forklift
capacities
• How to determine the “load center”
• What is the “stability triangle” and why
is it important
• Safe driving techniques with and without a
load
• Safely loading and unloading trailers from
a dock
• Propane and gasoline refueling procedures
• Battery charging, watering and safety
procedures Certificates
and wallet cards will be issued to the employer
for those attendees who successfully complete both
the written test and hands on driving evaluation.
